Recently our club awarded a combined Rotary District grant and club community grant to Rooted for Good. Our Community Grant for Children, Youth and Families of DeKalb County (CYF Grant) is a competitive local grant for non-profits in the county who have programming aimed at helping children, youth and/or families. This annual effort aims to award up to $10,000 each year and this is our 10th award year. Since its inception, we've awarded over $74,000 into the local area.
This year, one of our grant winners was Rooted for Good. Unfortunately, we couldn't meet all of their requested needs so we submitted them for Rotary District grant to cover the difference and now we're proud to award them the entire $5,000 they requested to purchase gardening tools and supplies for their Kirkland garden site. Rooted for Good's mission is to empower people to access healthy, sustainably grown food and address the root causes of hunger. We're proud to partner with them in their work!
